VAN HALEN Bassist Jams Up A Storm At NAMM: Photos Available

February 14, 2005

VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony attended the 2005 NAMM convention in Anaheim on January 20-21. He kicked things off on the 20th by helping VAN HALEN bandmate Sammy Hagar introduce his new Yamaha deal and joined THE WABORITAS on stage to add a little Michael Anthony spice to an acoustic version of "Right Now".

The following day Michael signed autographs for throngs of VH fans at the Yamaha, St. Louis Music (Ampeg) and Dean Markley booths.

If that wasn't enough, the mighty bassist then kicked things up a notch or two at a private dinner at a posh Japanese steak house before heading on over to the Galaxy Theater in Anaheim where he hooked up with Gary Cherone (ex-VAN HALEN, EXTREME),Nuno Bettencourt (ex-EXTREME) and George Lynch (ex-DOKKEN),much to the delight of the sold-out crowd.

The makeshift garage band tore through high-energy versions of "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love", "Mean Street" and "Somebody Get Me A Doctor" — the latter featuring Michael on lead vocals. The band then brought the house down as they wrapped up their set with a rare version of EXTREME's "Play With Me"!

Michael later joined Jon Anderson, Dick Dale, T.M. Stevens, Warren Di Martini, Dave "Snake" Sabo, Neil Zaza, Bettencourt, Cherone and Lynch, among others, to jam on ZEPPELIN's "Communication Breakdown" and "Rock and Roll".
